January 2006

We hope everyone had a joyful holiday season. We are starting a new year filled with hope and enthusiasm. Every year brings new challenges; container labeling, energy costs and labor appear to be in the fore front for 2006. Container labeling appears to be coming together. The biggest draw back so far is shipping dates for labeled containers. Printing and attaching labels to containers is causing delays. The solution is to get your orders in as soon as possible. Some of you may elect to do some of the labels in house. We are confident some of the Akinks@ will be worked out and next year’s season and will operate more smoothly. Energy costs appear to remain high for the foreseeable future. Knowing your costs of growing so you can adjust your pricing accordingly will be extremely important. It appears labor issues are going to be affected by new immigration policies. One way to reduce labor is to automate, especially in watering practices. The new Aquamat is just the answer. This mat is available in two weight; standard and heavy duty. The heavy duty is built to withstand small truck traffic. The mat can water any size area, bringing the water to the plant from the bottom up. The mat will work on most relativity level surfaces. January will be a good month to order Aquamat. Prices are scheduled to increase in February 2006. We will have Aquamat at the Pro-Green Expo later this month, so come by and see us.
