After several months of good sales our greenhouse side roll up system is working very well. We have systems from 24 ft to 200 ft in length. The 200 ft system rolls up 5ft and the difference in height from end to end is 1 inch in the rolled up position. The real value of this system is in the closed position. The bar “locks down” preventing wind from lifting and damaging the system. In most roll up systems, the closed position is where most of the damage occurs, bending pipes & tearing poly covers. Spring kicks off the gardening season and also kicks off the insect season. Aphids, Whitefly, Thrip, Fungus Gnat, Mealy Bug and Scale all start to appear. One of the best controls is the use of Safari in conjunction with Distance. Safari applied as a drench will give control of these insects up to 12 weeks. Distance is an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that prevents insects from molting to the next stage. Both products are very effective and a huge labor savings. For spider mites, Tetrsan IGR is a good choice. It works both as an ovicide as well as a growth regulator controlling all stages of Spider Mite reproduction. For more information call American Clay.
