September 2007

The American Clay Open House in August was a great success. We had over 100 people, great food and a good time. The highlights of the show were the new bio pot from ITML and the new Colorado Grows program that has been launched by American Clay, ITML and the John Henry Company. The Bio-pot is made from 100% coir fiber and will be available in 4 standard, 4.5 standard and 6 azalea containers. ITML is having these containers manufactured to fit their existing line of carry trays. The coir container is biodegradable and totally plantable. This past year we had a number of calls for a bio pot. American Clay will have Western Fiber, Elle Pot and the ITML coir pots available for the 2008 season. If you are interested in the ITML coir pot, please call American Clay Works & Supply for prices and availability.

We have initiated a new program called Colorado GrowsTM. American Clay took the initiative to have a true 1 quart container labeled under the new Potcha printing program with ITML. The labels are picture depicting the Colorado flag integrated into the logo, a picture of Colorado mountains, various plant species, and explanation of the program weights and measures and a UPS bar code. The purpose of the program is to bring awareness to the Colorado Grower, develop a branded label, promote products grown in Colorado and provide a funding source for both Colorado Floriculture Foundation & Colorado Nursery Research & Education fund (a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this pot will be distributed to both foundations from American Clay Works). The program has generated a lot of excitement and was very well accepted. We will soon have the true 1quart container in stock and a 1 gallon printed pot will be available later this year. We have developed a web site, coloradogrows.org.  This site contains information relating to the general program, the foundations involved The American Clay Works & Supply Co and the growers who are participating in the Colorado Grows program. 2’x3’ plastic posters for signage are already available, and point of sale brochures will be printed for the upcoming growing season. For more information please contact American Clay.

Also, American Clay Works has made a special purchase of Valent Chemical’s Safari and we will be offering the 3 lb canisters for $300.00 while supplies last.
