Sustainability: We have received a number of calls this past month about this issue. Most calls have been about sustainable containers. We currently have Coir pots in 4” std and 6” aza in stock. Containers of a new composition require several months of testing and the reports are showing very favorable results. It looks like the Coir Pot will be a player in the sustainability market. The other biological container we have is the fiber pot. As we stated before, this container has been available for years and is classified as a plantable container by many states. Fiber pots are available in sizes from 6” to 36” and we have a good supply of most sizes. We are making arrangements to bring in Rice Hull Containers. Some of the problems associated with this pot have been corrected. The Rice Hull container is also available in colors and several sizes. We will keep you updated. Ron Eberly will be attending a sustainability conference in Washington D.C. Feb 27, 28 & 29. I hope to have a better understanding of this
One of the big issues facing our industry is water. We realize that this year water is not going to be an issue. Water regulation, legislation and conservation are a big deal with the state government. Every month new bills are being passed, some of which will have an impact on our industry. One investment you can make to save on labor and time is to automate your greenhouse or nursery watering system. An investment in a drip or automated watering system can be returned in several months. For more information about automated watering please call American Clay.
We recently received a decrease in freight on a couple of truck loads of Fafard #2 Growing Mix and Fafard Peat Moss, both in 3.8 cu ft compressed bales. While these quantities last we will be reducing the price of these two items significantly. Let us know if you would like a quote..
